McDowell is up to eighth in the PGA standings after beating American opponent Webb Simpson in a play-off to claim the trophy.

The 33 year old has been talking about what the victory and reclaimed position in the rankings mean to him:

McDowell reached his highest position so far in the world rankings between January and March 2011, when he was ranked fourth. The top three golfers are currently Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott.

McDowell's success this weekend comes barely a week after he made headlines for criticising the treatment of teenage player Guan Tianiang at the Masters tournament. McDowell himself failed to make a major impact in the competition, coming in 62nd place.
