It's over three years since Barcelona icon Johan Cruyff was stripped of the club's honorary presidency by former president Sandro Rosell.
But now it looks like Rosell's replacement Josep Maria Bartomeu has been reaching out to the Dutch legend in order to repair the broken relationship.
But our European football correspondent Graham Hunter does not think that a ceasefire is a foregone conclusion.
"Cruyff and Rosell hated each other so much. Since Rosell was elected president in 2010, Cruyff hasn't been to the stadium. He's only been to the mini-stadium once when Ajax came playing in the new youth Champions League and it hasn't been as damaging in public as you might have thought because when Cruyff wants to make a fuss, it becomes a running sore. He was very respectful and quiet. Now there is a chance that the door is open and peace can be made. But we've yet to discover whether Cruyff is the forgiving type and whether he lumps Bartomeu in the same band of what he thought were fools."
On the other side of the El Clasico divide, Real Madrid cantera graduate Jese Rodriguez has been immense form and become a first team regular.
Graham credits Carlo Ancelotti for ending the rancour that Jose Mourinho left behind, while he sees Jese as the revelation of this season.
"There is an open channel between the youth setup and Carlo Ancelotti. Previously, between youth setup coach Alberto Toril and Jose Mourinho, there had been a state of absolute war. They wouldn't speak to each other and Toril's position came under threat."
