Grumpy Cat is heading to the big screen just in time for Christmas. It's been confirmed today that American network Lifetime has picked up the movie 'Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever'.

The story will follow the cat, real name Tardar Sauce, who is overlooked in a pet shop and eventually finds a friend in a 12-year-old girl. Writer Tim Hill has described the script as "a little Home Alone and a little Die Hard".

Tardar Sauce became an internet sensation because of her grumpy facial expression, which her owner says is due to feline dwarfism. Tardar first found fame on Reddit and soon "The Official Grumpy Cat" Facebook page generated over 5 million likes. In 2013, Grumpy Cat featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal.
