Much is being made about Pep Guardiola's alleged refusal to shake Cristiano Ronaldo's hand at the Ballon D'Or ceremony on Monday night.

Ronaldo appeared to tap the ex-Barcelona coach on the shoulder as he moved past. Pep then turned around but appeared to ignore the Real Madrid man.

The two men have clashed before. Durign Barcelona's famous 5 - 0 thrashing of Real Madrid in November 2010, Ronaldo pused the Barca boss on the sideline as he rushed to collect the ball. However it was such a minor incident in the great scheme of things, that there must be a deeper rooted issue between the two men. 

However one thing is certain.

Since Jose Mourinho took over at Real Madrid, the atmosphere between the El Clasico giants has become increasingly poisonous which might explain Guardiola's snub of The Special One's star man. 

Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas - currently out of favour under Mourinho - has attempted to keep the peace, particularly with close friend and international team-mate Xavi.
