With Wayne Rooney celebrating his 30th birthday on Saturday, we've taken a look back at some of the finest goals in his career.
In no particular order, here are just a few of the goals that have made Wayne Rooney one of the biggest names in the Premier League.
Manchester United 2-1 Manchester City
With a tense derby level at one apiece, the England striker displayed incredible technique to give the red half of Manchester bragging rights thanks to this stunning goal.
Manchester United 2-1 Portsmouth
Not content with already having scored one in this FA Cup clash, a fresh faced Wayne Rooney then proceeded to humiliate David James with this audacious chip.
Everton 2-1 Arsenal
This was the goal that started it all, and before you ask, no we didn't just select 2-1 victories. "Remember the name" were the words immortalised after a 16-year-old Rooney burst onto the scene to get the winning goal against a vintage Arsenal side, becoming the Premier League's youngest ever goalscorer while he was at it.
Man Utd 2-1 Newcastle
Ok, so maybe we did pick a lot of 2-1 wins. This goal will go down in Premier League history as one of the best ever scored; the technique, power and accuracy all showed what a special talent the United striker was. In the lead up to the goal he had been complaining to the referee over a contentious decision, put took a moment away to fire this volley home from the edge of the box.
Manchester United 3-0 Middlesbrough
Another memorable FA Cup goal, this time against Middlesbrough in the fourth round. A sumptuous chip from 45 yards out was the pick of the bunch in a comprehensive victory. The goal itself is about 30 seconds into the video below.
Manchester City 4-1 Manchester United
One that Manchester United fans would rather forget, given it came during a drubbing at the hands of local rivals Manchester City, but Rooney still showed great technique and tremendous character to slot home a top notch free kick with the game well beyond his side.
