Padraig Harrington has announced his withdrawal from next week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in Surrey.

After finishing inside the top 50 at the HP Byron Nelson yesterday, the three time major winner said a week of rest would be better for him than a fourth consecutive competition.

This weekend's tournament was the 41-year-old's third in a row with the controversial belly putter.

The Dubliner has struggled for form in recent weeks, since he missed the cut at the Masters in Augusta.
