Lionel Messi got goals 300 and 301 for Barcelona on Saturday as he led the fight back against Granada and reversed a 1-0 halftime deficit to see Barca maintain their stranglehold on La Liga with a 2-1 away win.

As you’ll probably not quite have forgotten yet, last year Lionel Messi broke Gerd Muller’s 1972 record for goals scored in a calendar year. Muller netted 85 times in 72 but Messi broke that record last year with 91 in all competitions. It was the Argentine’s most prolific period in front of goal and earned him a record fourth Ballon d’Or award as the best player in the world.

And now it looks like he’s getting better. @MessiStats have put together the following two infographics to illustrate the level he has reached so far this season and year, and where it stands in relation to previous years.

So far Messi has 48 goals in the 2012/13 season - a season that is just 36 games old for him. Last season he scored an incredible 73 times in 60 games but this year he's currently on course to score 80 goals in 60 games.

The third inforgraphic is a breakdown of his 301 Barcelona goals, and all you could ever want to know about them, produced by Bart Corré.

Comparing Messi's goal total from his first 36 games this season with his scoring total from the same amount of games last year. 11 more already.
