John Giles is not convinced that Nathan Ake is the quality of defender that Manchester City need in order to shore things up at the back next season.
The Premier League runners-up have reportedly had a 41-million pounds bid accepted by Bournemouth for the centre-back.
"I doubt it," the Republic of Ireland legend said when asked if Ake can help to transform City's defence. "I like him and I think he's a very, very good player for Bournemouth but I'm not sure he's what they need at Manchester City.
"When you're going to Man City, they need the best. I don't think he has enough"

"I don't think he has that attitude on the pitch to be a leader like van (Virgil) van Dijk has been at Liverpool, or even (Harry) Maguire to a lesser extent at Manchester United.
"I don't see that in him, I think he's good but at Manchester City they need the best. They need a van Dijk themselves, and there's not many like him around I know, in that particular position.
"They're weak at the back since Kompany has gone, whether this lad can fill that gap, I have my doubts."
