Sunderland and Norwich finished even after a 1-1 draw in today's early Premier League start.
Ireland midfielder Wes Holohan put Norwich ahead on 26mins, heading home from close range, complete with a celebratory Irish jig.
Hoolohan also had the honour of becoming the first player from the Republic of Ireland to score in the Premier League on St Patrick's Day.
But he had to leave the field five minutes later after Norwich goalkeeper Mark Bunn was sent-off for handling outside his area.
Lee Camp was called into the Norwich goal with Holohan making way. Sunderland managed to get back into the game with their man advantage and Craig Gardener converted a penalty five minutes before the break to level the scores.
