Republic of Ireland under-21 manager Stephen Kenny has downplayed fears over his health, after his recent health scare while away with the squad in Sweden.
Kenny fell ill after his side's 3-1 win in Kalmar on September 10th, and remained in the country for medical attention.
The Dubliner told reporters at the FAI Headquarters in Abbottstown yesterday that he is feeling much better now.
"I'm feeling very well. I had a stay in Sweden but there's probably not a better health system you could have than in Sweden. It wasn't the worst place to be not well in.
"I'm absolutely fine now. I was in England all last weekend and in England again yesterday."
Kenny was keen to keep the exact details of his health worries private, telling reporters when asked yesterday "I’d prefer not to."
At the time of his health issue, the FAI had released a statement with an update on the situation.
"Republic of Ireland Under 21 boss Stephen Kenny has remained in Sweden after becoming unwell on Wednesday as his squad made their way home from Tuesday night’s European Championship qualifier in Kalmar.
"Stephen was examined by the FAI’s medical staff and decided to stay behind for treatment at a local hospital. Stephen expects to be discharged in the coming days and is looking forward to beginning preparations ahead of the two European Under-21 Championship qualifiers next month."
The Irish under-21s play Italy on October 10th, before taking on Iceland in Reykjavik the following Tuesday, with Kenny naming a 22-man squad for those matches yesterday.
Bohemians star Darragh Leahy misses out through injury, with Michael Obafemi and Connor Ronan returning to the squad.
Neither Brighton star Aaron Connolly or Spurs' 17-year-old striker Troy Parrott made the senior squad cut for this month's games, so they are available for selection in Kenny's crucial EURO 2021 qualifiers.
Former Dundalk boss Kenny is due to take over the Republic of Ireland senior side after the current European Championship campaign - that would mean he would take over from Mick McCarthy after next summer's Euro 2020 tournament should the Republic qualify.
