Kent State"s Dri Archer had himself quite the game on saturday against the Bowling Green Falcons. The running back rushed for 241 yards and two TDs on 17 carries, with the crowning moment being this incredible run that takes him down and across the field of play before a staggering change of pace leaves the Bowling Green defence looking a little out of place at Archer"s level.
Archer has been earning himself a bit of a reputation, so that when the Bowling Green coach called him "the real deal" after Saturday"s game it wasn"t much of a surprise to anybody. Archer has been hurting teams with his running all year in spite of palying for Kent State, who are not considered one of the big schools in college football.
Archer leads the NCAA in kickoff return yards, with an average of 47.7 yards per return. To put that in context, the nearest rival to Archer is Trey Watts of Tulsa, who trails by over 13 yards. The all time record was set in 1961 by BYU"s Paul Allen at 40.08 yards. Archer could be about to drastically skew the curve of running back history.
