Ireland defender Richard Keogh has been re-appointed as Derby captain.

Following last night's sacking of manager Paul Clement, caretaker boss Darren Wassall has handed the captaincy role back to Keogh for the rest of the season.

Clement had given the captaincy to new signing Chris Baird in the summer, but after a poor run of recent results the manager has been sacked.

But in a further sign of change under caretaker Wassall that decision has now been reversed with the club highlighting how Keogh had held the captaincy for the previous three seasons at the heart of the Derby defence.

A regular in the Ireland squad since his first cap in 2013, the defender is a likely member of Martin O'Neill's plans for Euro 2016 this summer.
