The Irish women's side have claimed a famous 2-0 win over the USA in their Pool B match at the World League in Valencia.

Goals from Megan Frazer and Anna O'Flanagan have earned the Irish side a dramatic win over the world's fifth ranked side.

Ireland had already confirmed their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament but are now assured of finishing in the top two of the group.

On the day she won her 100th cap for Ireland, Nicola Evans praised the effort and committment shown by the whole team.

"Our discipline, we defended so well and our penalty corner defence was second to none today, absolutely top class running from the girls. We knew that if we held tight and we defended the centre - these are a top class side, America - we would get a couple of counters and that we'd have to take our opportunities. And we did," she said.
