John Giles is not expecting an instant change of fortunes at Liverpool under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss will take charge of his first Premier League match on Saturday against Tottenham and John believes it takes six months for managers' methods to start taking a firm grip.

"I think it will be a few months before the influence really shows itself," said John on Off The Ball tonight.

Turning his attention to struggling Sunderland where Sam Allardyce has been appointed, John has been reading parts of the former Bolton boss' book which contains plenty of fortright thoughts and joked: "There's certainly no shortage of confidence from Big Sam. Just reading the excerpts of his book and I'm surprised he hasn't got a broken arm going to Sunderland, patting himself on the back."
