Rory McIlroy has confirmed that Ricky Fowler will play in next year's Irish Open at Royal County Down.
The four-time major winner was speaking this morning ahead of the season ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, having already been crowned Race to Dubai winner for 2015.
The presence of the current World Number 9 in Fowler will provide a huge boost to the event, with McIlroy delighted to use his influence to bolster the quality of the field.
"I was excited to get more involved with the Irish Open and with it going to one of the best golf courses in the world, Royal County Down, I might be a bit biased. I've tried to use any sort of influence or persuasion I have to try and get some guys to come over and play in it and I'm glad to announce that Rickie Fowler has agreed to come over and play. It's hopefully the start of a few names coming over to play," said McIlroy.
