A week is a long time in football and also a cliché.
Four years is an eternity in that sense so.
It happens to be four years to the day that Leicester City made Jamie Vardy the first £1 million signing from non-league football when they acquired him from Fleetwood Town.
One European Championship cycle later and he has fired Leicester to Premier League glory and also put his name as a definite for Euro 2016.
On May 18th 2012, he spoke to local paper the Leicester Mercury upon signing for the Foxes and while the words 'Premier League' came up, the sum of his ambitions at the time was just to have the chance to play at that level.
"I want to play as high as I can. Leicester are ambitious and want to get into the Premier league, and I want to be a part of that," he said at the time.
"The quality of the squad is outrageous, it's unreal and we will all be doing our best to get into Premier League."
They didn't just get into the Premier League, of course. They almost got relegated from it before making history this season.
