John Caulfield has signed a contract extension to remain as Galway United manager for the next two seasons.
The former Cork City boss will remain in charge at Eamonn Deacy Park until the end of the 2023 campaign.
Caulfield took over from Alan Murphy in August of 2020, targeting promotion inside 18-months.
When he arrived Galway were second from bottom in the SSE Airtricity First Division, but a remarkable run of results saw them finish 5th and progress to the First Division playoff final.
They were beaten by Longford Town in November, condemning his side to another season in the second tier.
Galway are currently 3rd in the First Division, and near certainties to reach the playoffs yet again.
Club director John Corbett said, "When John took over, compared to now, there’s been great progress, and we are pushing hard to improve the club at all levels . He is building sound foundations for the future.
“We are thrilled that John has committed to the club and hopefully with the help of our fantastic support and all football supporters in the city and the county we can make Galway proud.“
