John Giles believes Roberto Mancini can have no excuses for their poor performances in Europe.

Giles blames poor City defending, particularly at set pieces, for the position Mancini’s side now find themselves in, with just two points from four games in the group stages and says there can be no claim that a lack of European experience has put them at a significant disadvantage against European opposition.

The former Ireland international also blamed poor defending for Arsenal’s loss of a two goal lead against Schalke in their game last night.
