John Terry has ended speculation about his future at Chelsea by signing a new one-year contract with the club.

Chelsea's captain was out of contract at the end of the season and was unsure if he would be offered a new one by the former Premier League champions. The deal will see Terry spend a 19th season with the club.

"I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I'm Chelsea through and through", Terry told the club's website. "I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one."

Terry has won every available major domestic and European club title with the club. At domestic level he has won four Premier Leagues, five FA Cups and three League Cups. In Europe, he has Champions League and Europa League winners medals.

The defender only needs 27 appearances next season to become the club's second most capped player. He has already led the club as captain on a record 570 appearances.

The 35-year-old will play under his 14th permanent and caretaker manager when Antonio Conte joins the club after Euro 2016.
