Tipperary hurling star Lar Corbett was in the Off The Ball studio last night to discuss his career and his autobiography, “All in my head”.
Lar’s book, and his interview with Eoin McDevitt, show that he is a complex character, full of self doubt and second guessing, at the mercy of the whims of his erratic internal monologue while at the same time carried along by his brilliant talent.
He spoke with Eoin for over twenty miutes and offered a more open and honest self appraisal, of matters both on the field of paly and off it, than most guests are happy to venture towards and provided one of the year’s highlights on the show.
They talked about Lar’s unorthodox hurling education, his life as a star in Tipp, what was going through his head as he scored an All Ireland final hat trick against Kilkenny, and how the controversy from this year’s semi-final against the same opposition has effected him.
