"Luimneach CLG can confirm that we will be lodging an appeal with the CCCC based on the failure of the Hawk Eye Score Detection System during the All Ireland Minor Hurling Semi Final in Croke Park on Sunday August 18th.
In the interests of fairness to all involved we will be not be making any further comment until the full process has been determined."
Short and too the point from the Limerick county hard who feel hard done by and lest be honest who can blame them, sport is cruel and it seems especially sadistic to counties who rarely achieve success, had the Shannonsiders made it through Sundays game it would have been their first appearance in the final since 2005 in a competition they haven't won since 1984.
The statement is open ended and doesn't include any mention of asking Galway for a re-play , that would be an unfair request but I'm sure if the Tribesmen offered Limerick would respond with an immediate yes.
So what are the rules and protocols for this situation? no one knows because we've never had it before but usually once a game is done and it's up to the winning team to offer but they are under no obligation to do so.
Would Limerick have won had the point stood, who knows maybe it would have rallied Galway to go down the park and score a goal maybe it wouldn’t the only certainty is that there is no certainty, is that enough for a re-play to be granted ?
