Liverpool have returned to the top of the Premier League table after comfortably beating Huddersfield Town 5-0.

Jurgen Klopp's side needed a win to keep their title challenge on track and didn't wait long for an opening.

In fact, it came within the first 15 seconds. Days on from the night Shane Long set a Premier League record for fastest goal, Naby Keita scored a quickfire opener.

It wasn't record breaking but it took just 15 seconds for the Guinean midfielder to convert Mo Salah's pass.

Sadio Mane made it 2-0 on 23 minutes when he headed in Andrew Robertson's pinpoint cross from the left.

And Salah added Liverpool's third in first half stoppage time when he lofted the ball over the on-rushing Jonas Lossl.

Liverpool almost made it 4-0 eight minutes after half-time but Daniel Sturridge's effort was flagged for offside.

But Mane did get that fourth goal. The Senegalese forward notched another header on 66 minutes to stretch the gap.

Liverpool also welcomed back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the fray after his long-term knee injury.

And the Reds almost made it 5-0 shortly after but Mane headed against the post.

But the fifth did arrive as Salah tapped in on 83 minutes.

The Reds have played a game more than fellow title challengers Manchester City, who play Burnley on Sunday. City will return to the top with a win at Turf Moore. But they would end up behind Liverpool with a draw or defeat, with just two games to go.
