Liverpool could well have offered themselves up for yet another off the field distraction, as Roy Hodgson was forced to watch today’s game at Anfield from the seats usually taken by scouts, rather than being invited to the Chairman’s Suite, as is customary when the England manager visits a ground.
Hodgson endured a tough spell as manager of Liverpool between July 2010 and January 2011, before leaving the club by mutual consent.
Daily Telegraph writer Henry Winter was tweeting on the situation during the game
I don't care how many sponsors #lfc have in directors' box at Anfield. Roy Hodgson should be in there and not in scouts' area #clubvcountry

Even if Hodgson's #lfc spell didn't work out, he's #eng manager. Clubs usually treat #eng manager with more respect. He's livid

Hodgson not invited into chairman's suite at Anfield either. #eng manager shown to small scouts' room. Unprecedented. He may leave at h-t

After discussions with an #lfc official, Hodgson's staying on before dash to St George's Park to watch TV 2nd half of #afc #thfc
