Liverpool FC have announced the signing of defender Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.

The 24 year old joins Liverpool on a long term deal and becomes the club's sixth signing of the summer. Speaking to Liverpool's official website, he said; "As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through."

He has been signed as a direct replacement for Glen Johnson, who left the club at the end of the season after his contract expires.

Clyne will join former team mates Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren at Anfield. The trio left Southampton last summer to join Brendan Rodgers' side.
