Derek Llambias has resigned as managing director of Newcastle.

He had been at St James' Park for five years but just a day after the confirmation of Joe Kinnear's appointment as the club's director of football, he has chosen to leave with immediate effect.

It has been a turbulent for Newcastle who scraped Premier League survival and kick-off next season against Manchester City.
