Manchester City tightened their grip on second place with a comfortable 2 - 1 victory over West Ham.

Sergio Aguero gave City the lead just before the half hour mark when he slotted in a Samir Nasri cross.

The Sky Blues missed a number of chances before Yaya Toure seemingly made sure of the points with a thunderous shot into the top corner with seven minutes to go.

But Andy Carroll set up a nervous ending to the game when he scored a late consolation.

The result puts City eight points clear of third placed Arsenal, while the Hammers stay 10th, two points clear of Fulham.
