Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed they will appeal the red card given to Samir Nasri in their Premier League win over Norwich at the weekend.
The French winger was sent off after aiming a headbutt at Canaries defender Sebastian Bassong.
Mancini says any suspension would make selecting the team for the match with Stoke tomorrow even more difficult.
However Stoke's Steven Nzonzi will be free to face City in the Premier League tomorrow after the club appealed his sending off at the weekend.
The midfielder was red carded for an alleged stamp on Southampton's Jack Cork during Saturday's 3-3 draw.
As the Potters do not have two working days before their trip to Eastlands, Nzonzi will be able to play against the champions.
The result of the appeal will be made later this week.
