This used to be a title-deciding fixture but this season both sides have completely different goals to aim for.

Manchester United have already wrapped up the title, while Chelsea are engaged in a three-way battle for the two final Top Four places.

Demba Ba and Ashley Cole are likely to be recalled to the Blues' starting XI after missing the Europa League win over FC Basle after being cup-tied and suspended respectively.

The last time the two sides met in the league, it was an acrimonious encounter which ended up with Mark Clattenburg being falsely accused of making a racist remark to John Obi Mikel and Juan Mata.

That was under Roberto Di Matteo's stewardship, but under interim manager Rafa Benitez they exacted some revenge in the FA Cup by beating United in a replay at Stamford Bridge after coming from behind to draw at Old Trafford.

Danny Welbeck is out with a knee injury for United but Alex Ferguson can call upon Paul Scholes again after a four month lay-off.

Ferguson may be tempted to start with Javier Hernandez who has an excellent goal record against Chelsea. He scored in the first FA Cup game and the 3 - 2 league win at Stamford Bridge. In all he has scored six times in his last eight games against Chelsea.
