Diego Maradona has hit out at his former son-in-law Sergio Aguero, describing him as a wimp.

The Manchester City striker split up from Maradona's daughter earlier this year, with ex-wife and daughter now living in Madrid.

Maradona, who has been celebrating his 53rd birthday, threatened legal action against Aguero.

"He's a wimp, who I don't even want to name," he said. 

"In my daughter's next meeting with a lawyer, I want to be by her side. We'll see who can talk. The next time I want to be there to see if he [Aguero] says anything."

City will hope that the personal strife will not affect Aguero's fine form this season.
