Clattenburg was cleared by the Football Association of using innappropriate language during Chelsea's clash with Manchester United in October last year. An investigation into the matter by Metropolitan Police was also dropped.
In a statement released last November after being cleared of the allegations, Clattenburg reflected that "I know first hand the ramifications of allegations of this nature being placed into the public domain ahead of a formal process and investigation. I hope no referee has to go through this in the future."
The referee will officiate Chelsea's Premier League game against Swansea at Stamford Bridge this Sunday.
Sunday will also mark the first time the the two teams have met since Eden Hazard was sent off for allegedly kicking a ball boy during the League Cup semi-final in January.
