Joel Matip and Naby Keita have returned to full training with Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp is yet to decide if both will be available to face Atalanta.
The Premier League leaders are due to fly out to Bergamo on Monday afternoon for Tuesday's Champions League game against the Serie A side.
Matip has only made one start all season and has been unavailable since featuring in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park last month.
Keita's last involvement was the 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break in October.
Klopp has also revealed that Thiago is not back training yet as he continues to recover from an injury suffered in the Everton game.
The Reds came from behind to beat West Ham 2-1 at Anfield in the Premier League and travel to Manchester City next Sunday after their European game in Italy.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com ahead of the Atalanta game: "Yesterday was recovery for some and normal training for the others, so now we have to see how the boys feel today.
"It’s pretty early now and I have not all the information, but I hope nothing serious."
Asked about Matip, Keita and Thiago, Klopp explained: "Naby and Joel trained yesterday with the team, full, Thiago didn’t. So, that’s the situation.
"I have really no idea what I do with this information in the moment because yes, they trained, that’s good, it’s better than if they don’t train. But we have to see what we do with it.
"We have another day to make these decisions. A lot of players will be on the plane hopefully, and so decisions will be made late, late, late."
Nat Phillips partnered Joe Gomez in central defence against West Ham in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Joel Matip.
Rhys Williams was brought on against FC Midtjylland when Fabinho went off injured and had been tipped by many to start against the Hammers.
