The Kildare county board have ended Kieran McGeeney's reign as their senior football manager.

Delegates at tonight's county board meeting voted by 29 to 28 for a change of management after this year's championship campaign ended in a third round qualifier defeat to Tyrone.

Despite support for the manager from senior stars such as Johnny Doyle, Emmett Bolton and team captain Eamonn Callaghan, it means that the former Armagh All Ireland winner has been forced out after six years in charge of the Lilywhites.
