Tipperary has appointed Shane McGrath as captain of the senior hurling team for 2013.

The 28-year-old wing forward started his senior inter-county career in 2006 and was part of Tipp's All Ireland winning team of 2010 and will replace Paul Curran as captain.

Borris-Ileigh club man Brendan Maher has been appointed vice-captain by the Tipperary county board.
