Mike Phelan, the once long term assistant manager to Alex Ferguson spoke with Off the Ball recently, discussing his football philosophy, his time at Old Trafford and alongside Ferguson and his views on the vacant Ireland managerial post.

Year after year he stood by Alex Ferguons’s side on the Old Trafford sideline and in that role he would bear witness to one of football’s greatest ever operators and that insight and knowledge makes Phelan a man with a unique insight into one of the most interesting football eras of all time.
