Mike Sherry has announced his retirement from professional rugby.

The 31-year-old hooker joined Munster a decade ago, making 108 appearances for the province, scoring 12 tries.

He skippered Munster against the Scarlets in March of 2013.

Sherry was part of Declan Kidney's squad for the 2011 World Cup but didn't play.

His Ireland debut came against the USA in 2013.

Sherry played on loan for Gloucester last season.

Injuries probably hindered Sherry from winning a lot more caps for his country.

In a statement today, in which he thanked everyone who supported him on his journey, he described hanging up the jersey as bringing 'mixed emotions'.
