The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 14th 2012)
The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.
Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.
Life of Pi (December 20th 2012)
The central narrative thread in Life of Pi concerns the experiences of Piscine Molitor Patel, an Indian teenager with an unusual perspective on spirituality (he follows the Hindu, Christian, and Muslim faith) whose father runs a zoo. Due to the mockable nature of his name, Piscine ends up taking on the shorter nickname “Pi.”
Eventually, Pi and his family decide to travel overseas to Canada, due to the political climate in India. However, the ship carrying their animals and Pi unexpectedly sinks, stranding the young man aboard a life boat with a handful of wild animals as his companions – including, a Bengal tiger dubbed “Richard Parker.”
Great Expectations (November 30th 2012)
Great Expectations is another British film adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel of the same name. The film was directed by Mike Newell, and stars Jeremy Irvine, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Robbie Coltrane. It was distributed by Lions Gate Entertainment.
Helena Bonham Carter was asked to appear as Miss Havisham by Newell, and accepted the role after some initial apprehension, while Irvine was initially intimidated by the thought of appearing on screen as Pip.
Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! (November 23rd 2012)
Donald Peterson is an anxious teacher who takes a job at an underachieving primary school, St Bernadette's. He struggles to deal with his rambunctious pupils and his loose cannon classroom assistant Mr Poppy, while caring for his heavily pregnant wife.
When Mr Poppy decides St Berndadette's should enter the National 'Sing a Song for Christmas' competition, he convinces Donald to sign the entry forms, later kidnapping him for an epic impromptu road trip to Christmas Castle in Wales, where the competition is being held.
Alex Cross (November 30th 2012)
Homicide detective/psychologist Alex Cross (Tyler Perry) from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, meets his match in a cruel, sadistic serial killer (Matthew Fox) who is turned on by torturing and slowly killing women. In his spare time, he takes part in cage fighting.
The two face off in a life-and-death game of cat and mouse, but when the killer begins to target those he loves, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller.
Seven Psychopaths (December 7th 2012)
Marty (Colin Farrell) is a struggling writer who dreams of finishing his screenplay, "Seven Psychopaths." All he needs is a little focus and inspiration. Billy (Sam Rockwell) is Marty's best friend, an unemployed actor and part-time dog thief, who wants to help Marty by any means necessary. Hans (Christopher Walken) is Billy's partner in crime: a religious man with a violent past.
Charlie (Woody Harrelson) is the gangster whose beloved dog Billy and Hans have just stolen. Charlie is unpredictable and extremely violent and wouldn't think twice about killing anyone or destroying anything associated with the theft. Marty is going to get all the focus and inspiration he needs, just as long as he lives to tell the tale.
I, Anna (December 7th 2012)
DCI Bernie Reid's latest case is the mystery of a man brutally murdered in a London apartment building. As an insomniac going through a divorce, Reid's concentration on the case is further complicated after an encounter with Anna, an enigmatic figure. He tracks her down to a party where Anna denies any knowledge of having already met him. Despite her protestations, there is a mutual attraction between them both. Bernie's professional ethics come into question as he grows more attached to Anna, who is about to unveil a dark mystery.
Parental Guidance (December 26th 2012)
Old school grandfather Artie (Billy Crystal), who is accustomed to calling the shots, meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane (Bette Midler) agree to babysit their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents (Marisa Tomei, Tom Everett Scott) go away for work. But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane's old school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it's learning to bend – and not holding your ground – that binds a family together.
