Nathan Ake has become the latest player to succumb to injury in the latest international window.
The Manchester City centre-back earned his 19th international cap on Wednesday night in a friendly with Spain in Amsterdam.
However, it lasted just six-minutes as he sustained a hamstring injury. Ake was replaced by Ajax's Daley Blind.
Signed for €45million from Bournemouth in the summer, Ake started three of City's first four Premier League games.
However, following the bedding-in of Ruben Dias alongside Aymeric Laporte, the defender's been consigned to the bench in recent weeks.
But a hamstring injury is likely to rule Ake out of Pep Guardiola's plans for roughly six weeks.
The international window has already been unkind to City's title rivals, Liverpool.
Joe Gomez added to Jurgen Klopp's centre-back headache, suffering what England manager described as an "upsetting" knee injury during training.
