The transfer rumour mill keeps churning out grainy nuggets of half-truths and barefaced lies. 

Today, different rumours suggest different strikers are on their way to Newcastle United.

Having been linked with West Brom and Ireland striker Shane Long this morning, the Magpies are now said to be turning their attention to their former player Demba Ba.

The Magpies reportedly want to bring the 28-year-old forward back on loan, due to their need for a striker and Ba's place in the Chelsea pecking order.

Only days ago, some reports claimed Ba was Roma-bound.

But other reports today claim that Newcastle are on the rocky road to resurrecting a deal for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.

Whether Director of Football Joe Kinnear can convince him to sign for Newcastle is another matter entirely.
