Seven years after completing the race, World Champion Olive Loughnane will finally receive her 2009 World Championship gold medal today.
The 20 kilometre walker originally finished second in the race in Berlin, but has since been promoted to gold, after Russian athlete Olga Kaniskina was stripped of her medal.
Loughnane's medal presentation will take place on Wednesday afternoon during the first day of the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam

The medal presentation is the brainchild of Svein Arne Hansen, the European Athletics President. "It’s a very important signal," Hansen told the Irish Times. "I have no sympathy for the athletes who have been cheating."
Loughnane will be presented with the medal by IAAF President Sebastian Coe on front of the Amsterdam, in what will be one of the first medal presentations of the Championships.
The Galway walker, will become Ireland's fourth ever World Champion after Eamonn Coghlan, Sonia O'Sullivan and Rob Heffernan.
