If you know anything about Palermo, managers are not allowed to let the grass grow under their feet.
Back in May, the club were relegated to Serie B and I touched on the chronic instability in a Euro Footy Focus column.
The Sicilian club's owner is Maurizio Zamparini and he has been dubbed the manager-eater for the ruthlessness he shows towards managers.
Over the past decade, Palermo have had over 20 bosses, often firing and then re-hiring the same man on a whim.
Zamparini has even been quoted as claiming that a former manager had "no balls" and that he would "eat his players testicles in his salad".
Today he sacked yet another manager and this time it was former AC Milan and Italy star Gennaro Gattuso. Gattuso is a volatile and passionate character in his own right but after six games of the new Serie B season, he has been sacked.
Palermo took just seven points from six games, prompting Zamparini to make the type of decision he has become accustomed to.
This time there was no mention of private parts as he explained why Gattuso has been sacked:
"His first serious coaching position was perhaps too big a responsibility at a club as demanding as Palermo."
Giuseppe Iachini steps into Gattuso's shoes in what is likely to be a very short stint.
