Dan Parks will not play in Connacht’s Heineken Cup game against Harlequins on Saturday. The former Scottish international misses the tie through injury and is replaced by Matthew Jarvis.
Eric Elwood makes two other changes to his line up for the game at The Stoop. Flanker Johnny O’Connor returns from injury and starts at openside alongside Eoin McKeon who replaces the injured George Naoupu at number 8.
Elsewhere Tiernan O’Halloran starts on the right wing and Tongan international Fetu’u Vainikolo starts at number 11.
Elwood has said he sees the game as a chance for the Connacht side to prove themselves and that they belong with Europe's best sides:
"This weekend is a massive opportunity for us. We're going to play a hugely strong team who are English champions and top of the league at the moment. They've blitzed everybody in our pool so far. But the good news for us is that we're going there with confidence after the win against Dragons last week.
"We had a great game against Quins here in October where we both tried to play ball and we're going to have the same mind-set this week. Its Heineken Cup rugby and we want to show people what we can do. It's going to be difficult but we know the challenge facing us and we want to play our game."
Reports today have said that Pat Lam, the former Auckland boss, will be confirmed as Eric Elwood’s replacement in the next 24 hours.
Connacht Chief Executive Tom Sears says if it’s appropriate the new coach may arrive earlier if it helps with the handover.
