Connacht have confirmed that Pat Lam will replace Eric Elwood as their head coach at the end of the season.

The former Samoa captain has agreed a two-year contract at the Sportsground that will come into effect at the start of June.

The 44-year-old's coaching career includes a successful spell with Auckland in New Zealand, where he won two NPC titles in 2005 and 2007, before going on to take charge of the Auckland Blues in the Super 15 to mixed results.
