Peter Canavan confirmed he has stepped down as manager of the Fermanagh senior footballers.

In a statement the Tyrone legend wished everyone "who is genuinely concerned with Fermanagh football" the best of luck in the future.

The 42-year-old took the Fermanagh job in November 2011 and led them into Division 3 for this season where they managed to stay up.

In the Championship, they came unstuck against Cavan in their opening provincial match. In 2012 Fermanagh lost to Down at the same stage.
