Giovanni Trapattoni is no longer manager of the Irish national team after the FAI confirmed that he and assistant Marco Tardelli have left their roles by mutual consent. You can read statements by John Delaney, Trap and Tardelli here.
 
That means thoughts have turned to the identity of a potential successor for the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign and beyond.
 
Martin O'Neill is the favourite with some bookies and was backed by John Giles on Newstalk Breakfast.
