Premier League clubs have voted in favour of a return to a longer summer transfer window.
The window in England will once again close on September 1st and not before the start of the season as was the case for the past two seasons.
The transfer window was moved to the start of August in England because several clubs and managers claimed it disrupted the start of the season.
It had been hoped the other major leagues across Europe would follow suit but it did not happen.
As a result, Premier League clubs felt they were in a vulnerable position if their best players were the subject of bids from other European clubs because they wouldn't be able to bring in replacements.
Officials from all 20 Premier League clubs met on Thursday and the change will take effect from this summer when the window will close at 5pm on September 1st.

The 2020 closing date will therefore be 17:00 BST on 1 September

A statement from the Premier League Shareholders read:
"At a Shareholders’ Meeting today, Premier League clubs voted to adopt a change to the Summer Transfer Window closing date for season 2020/21.
This will move the closing date back to the traditional point at the end of August/early September.
The 2020 closing date will therefore be 17:00 BST on 1 September (31 August 2020 being a UK Bank Holiday).
Clubs agreed after discussing the topic at length at previous Shareholders' Meetings."
