Premier League Champions Manchester City needed an injury time winner from Gareth Barry to beat Reading 1-0 at the Etihad.
The City midfielder got on the end of a David Silva cross to head home and send them within three points of leaders Manchester United.
The champions had been frustrated by the bottom side for long periods and there was an even a question mark over the goal as Barry appeared to climb over Shorey.
The win puts Roberto Mancini's side within three points of Manchester United at the summit.
West Ham 1 - 2 Everton
Everton are fourth after they came from behind to beat West Ham 2-1 at Upton Park
Carlton Cole put the Hammers ahead but Victor Anichebe levelled it for Everton with a header from a Steven Pienaar cross.
And it was Pienaar who won it for the Toffees after Cole was sent off for the home side for a challenge on Leighton Baines.
Darron Gibson was shown a red card for Everton late on.
West Brom 2 - 1 Norwich
West Brom also came from a goal down to win 2-1 at home to Norwich.
Robert Snodgrass gave Norwich the lead but Zoltan Gera equalised for West Brom
Romelu Lukaku grabbed the winner in the last 10 minutes.
