Former England under 21 international footballer, and current professional boxer, Curtis Woodhouse has taken a step many celebrities and professional athletes have been itching to take for years – he’s paid a house call to a twitter troll for a face to face meeting, and live-tweeted the whole thing.
Woodhouse lost his English light welterweight title last Friday evening and two days was abused by a Twitter user who had, reportedly, been sending Woodhouse abusive messages since January.
Woodhouse, who played Premier League football with Birmingham and eventually retired from football at 26, decided he had had enough and would make a visit to his Twitter troll in person. He tweeted offering a £1000 reward for anyone who could give him the user’s name and address and was soon on his way to Sheffield to pay a visit.
The following exchange went viral and Woodhouse has been supported by Joey Barton, Lennox Lewis and John Prescott as a hero for standing up to online abuse.
