Rachael Blackmore has created yet more history.

12 months on from the race that eluded her, she has won the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The Tipperary rider has guided the Henry De Bromhead trained 'A Plus Tard' to victory in the festival's feature.

The eight-year-old's stablemate and last year's winner Minella Indo was second with Protektorat, who is owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, third.

Speaking to Racing TV after the race Blackmore cut an emotional figure as she was welcomed back into the winner's enclosure by the crowds she missed out on last year.

"I'm so overwhelmed, I just feel so lucky to be getting to ride these horses that bring you to places like here, to be in Henry [De Bromhead]'s yard.

"I just feel so lucky. It wasn't even 12 months ago I got to win an Aintree Grand National, I don't know how or why, I'm just so lucky to be in the position that I'm in, unbelievable.

"Not every jockey gets to be in this position. Last year I had the choice of the horses who came first and second so this year I was lucky to be on the right one, it's overwhelming.

"I just gave him a better ride I suppose, and it worked out.

"I tried not to make the same mistake again but Henry is incredible at what he does and he had him spot-on."
