Remember Djimi Traore? Of course you do. Who could forget a man who won a Champions League winner's medal in the most dramatic final of all time but will forever be remembered for an own goal in an FA Cup game against Barnsley?
Well, guess who just announced their arrival in the MLS with a goal that goes against everything you thought you knew about Djimi Traore? That’s right, Djimi Traore.
Traore was making his debut for Seattle and helped them come back from two goals down in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League tie with Mexican side Tigres, with an absolute thunderbolt of a shot from 35 yards out. It's quite a departure from "the other Traore goal."
The former Liverpool, Portsmouth and Monaco defender is the man who once made incompetence an art, and scored an own goal so preposterously bad it defines his time in England. In a 2005 vintage Liverpool side full of players who, realistically, had little business at a Champions League final, never mind winning one, Traore was the star man.
