Romanian record champions Steaua Bucharest have been stripped of their name and club symbols by a court.
The 1986 European Cup champions and 25-time league winners, who were the country's army team historically, are no longer able to use the name Steaua or its club colours and logo after a legal claim lodged by the Romanian military was upheld.
The army claim that the club have encroached on their intellectual property and until an agreement is reached between both parties, an impasse will remain.
On Sunday, the club formerly known as Steaua were forced to wear a yellow kit instead of the traditional red and blue colours they are famous for.
The stadium announcer also introduced the team as the 'Champions of Romania' rather than Steaua, with the scoreboard reading hosts.
This is epic. Scoreboard only displays HOSTS and an empty square instead of Steaua's bagde!!!!! pic.twitter.com/58wLht01BX
